Fishing in the Pool...
So, this week the weather has been much better and I got the urge to go check out my favorite fishing hole. It's a little, under the road, bridge that dumps all the spring fed lake water into the Snake River. When I first got there, immediately, this little brown head popped up from the rocks about 30 feet away. It immediately jumpped out of the rocks and started running up to me. It was a beautiful brown otter. It kept coming and coming and I was beginning to think it was going to attack or something. When it got about 3 feet away and started to get up on the concrete slab that I was on, I stomped my foot and it stopped and just stared at me with these cute little eyes. After a couple of seconds, it turned and went down into the rocks below and dove into the Snake river and started swimming away. Here is a picture I got of it swimming away.

In retrospect, it was acting like a pet or something. It was probably thinking I had some food or a fish for it to eat. It was reallll friendly for a wild animal. It's coat was very pretty and it was really cute. It just put be back a little coming up so close in a run like that... Last year, there was a family of black ferrets that lived in those rocks and I fed them lots of fish. They were also very cute, but could tear up a fish if seconds - nasty on the teeth end...
After the otter event, I did some fishing under the bridge and caught a nice 20" or so rainbow trout - my first good fish of the year. I let it go as I have a bunch of them that size in the freezer already. Then, I went over to the Snake River side and ended up catching a 22" trout on a floating lure. It had a mouth that was very different than most raindow trout I have seen. It must be a hybred or something that came out of the hatcheries in the area. Anyway, I took a picture of it before I let it go so you all could see it...

Then there was pool. The new 9-ball league started on Tuesday. This is the one I am playing with Storm and Steve. Steve is a really great player and a welcomed addition to the team this season. In our first match of the year, Steve won 5 of his 6 games as did I. Storm only on 1 of his 6 games, having the worst 'luck' I have seen in a while. I actually played better than Steve, since all the really tricky stuff he does and can usually do well, wasn't working too well on the table we were on. My goal is to try and keep up with Steve in the game wins which should be a real 'challenge'.
O, the top shooters 8-ball tournament I played in last Saturday was won by Steve. He said he didn't get done until 1:30am. He played Cary, another awesome local player, and in the final 18 games they played, they broke and ran the table 13 times... That is the level of players that are on the top end of the pool food chain here in DaHo...
