Lots been going on...

SORRY for not writing for a couple of weeks. There has been lots of stuff going on in lots of areas.

Computer Hell...
First, we have been having a rash of computer problems that have been the major cause of the lack of posts here. It all started when I got this new dual TV tuner card for the Media Center PC. When I tried to install it, I found out that we had been infected with a virus and it had severely screwed up the operating system. It is still screwed up and after much research and advise, I am going to have to reformat the disk and start over again. Then, after all that, the new dual tuner card didn't work so I removed it. But in the research, I happened to see that there was a OS fix to correct the problems I was having. So, after I get it all reloaded, I might try the dual tuner card again. It sure would be nice to have 2 tuners...

Then, my main system started having all sorts of problems, resulting it the system disk being destroyed. I am having to recover as much as possible from all that - 10 years of, applications, history and data down the drain... Most of it was old news anyway, but...

So, we just ordered a new Dell system to replace the office system and will put the old one up in the guest suite for you all to play with when you come to visit.

Plumbing...
Pam's Mother had a bathroom sink that rusted out in her house. So, Pam and I said we would help her get it fixed. And, while we were at it, we ended up replacing both of her bathroom sinks and her kitchen sink, with new faucets all around. Storm, my pool partner, helped us install them all last weekend. It all went great considering all the potential problems that could have arose. It just took a lot of time to get all the parts and do the whole job.

Fishing...
After Storm and I got done with the sinks, we went down to Cristal Lake to see how the trout had done over the winter. They haven't stocked much yet, but we did some fishing anyway. I caught a 11" rainbow on my first cast of the year. Not much after that, but it was a good way to 'start' the fishing year. We are going again soon.

Pool...
The leagues I have been playing in for the winter are coming to a close. In the 8-ball league, we came in first and in the individual standings I came in 5th and Storm was tied for 1st. We are now in the playoff tournament and won the first match last week and will play again Monday night. We will get nice winner jackets and trophies for this one.

In 9-ball league, we came in 2nd and in the individual standings, I came in 4th and Storm came in 2nd.

The better news is that quality of my play has increased greatly. In the past few weeks, I have gotten better and better, winning 17 out of 20 games with many runouts. Now, if I can only get my breaks working better...

Television...
Between the Olympics, American Idol and Deal or no Deal, we have been real busy in our spare time here in DaHo...

R-Studio is a great program for scanning a drive for files / allocation tables when the drive cant be read under windows!

I can send you a copy I purchased - let me know.

Just need to install on another drive - plug in the dead drive as a slave and run r-studio.

Also GRC keeps blowing his own trumpet on how good Spinrite is - not sure though and not tried it.

AV: Do not use Norton :P AVG is muchly good and free - what virus did you have and any idea how you got it?
