DaZaster at DaHouse in DaHo...

Its been cold here in DaHo. It was in the single digit temps for a couple days in the middle of last week. Last Thursday, I was going out to town and when I got into the laundry/mud room to put my coat on, I was standing in water - not good. Then I heard some water type sounds coming through the garage door - also not good. So, I opened up the door to the garage an there were streams of water coming down from the ceiling all over the garage - really not good. With especially large ones pouring right on my bike and lawn mower and the stairs, under which is lots of great stuff packed in boxes for long term storage - awful. About 1/2 of the contents of the garage are done...

The pipes that feed the upstairs bathroom faucets both froze and broke causing the mess. So, its been quite an exciting few days since then. We have had folks here fixing the problem, repacking lots of stuff, getting rid of mess, demoing the sheet rock and insulation, drying everything out, etc., etc.

The good news, if there is good news in all of this, is that its almost exclusively contained in the garage. All the carpets got messed up with 6 contractor and plumber types, with wet and muddy boots, running around all over checking for problems when it happened and they are going to have to replace the laundry room floor and walls, but that is about it inside, I hope... The water was draining from the HVAC ducting all over so we don't know what type of mold problems and subsequent resolution that will entail.

Anyway, its been great fun here. There is always more to do that time to do it in and extra events also that occur around the holidays. We went to a musical rendition of The Messiah at CSI yesterday afternoon. That was the closest thing to 'fine art' I have ever seen here in DaHo. It was first class music and singing, and even too long - which is another way to tell when its the real thing. Her boss is in the choir that was part of the event...

Pam is back to work and doing great and the cat is doing what the cat does, only more so... Pam's recovery is doing very well and she is starting to go without the brace for longer periods of time as her neck recovers. She says that much of the pain and related problems that were caused from the neck 'issues' are gone and she feels much better than she had for some time. She still has to wear the cute little Japanese cartoon cat looking cervical neck bone fuser device 4 hours a day.

Its too cold to fish but my pool playing has been doing very well. Both teams that I am on are doing well and I personally have also. Missing the week for Pam's operation has probably put me out of any individual high placements, but we shall see how it goes.

We have called off the gala 60th birthday party at the local billiard parlor due to all the 'fun' and 'excitement' that has been our life for the past couple of months, with both of us having operations and now the house water disaster. We will probably have a much more low key celebration at home with friends that will be easier to deal with. This event will also celebrate me being cancer free for 5 years which is also great news. Now, if the sturgeon will just come back, all will be good here in DaHo...
