Spectacular 60th Birthday Party...
Well, my 60th Birthday Party went great. The weather was pretty nasty, with 6" of new snow, which limited the attendance somewhat, but it was big fun and a good time was had by all.
You really have to watch what you ask for, as I found out for the party. We continually don't have enough freezer space between the large GE in the kitchen and this little standup trophy trout and bait unit in the garage - which I was trying to clean out for the party stuff, but was frosted up too much. So, I was 'asking' for more freezer space for party supplies and within hours, the whole outside was freezer space... We put a lot of the party supplies and ice cream, out on the front deck and it kept frozen well all day...
Luckily, a couple of the neighbors helped out with the driveway. One got a new tractor and scrapped it off and another brought over his snow blower just before the party and cleaned it off again and I spread that nasty ice melt on it which solved the driveway problem well. I was using that ice melt stuff last year, spreading it with my hands, without gloves, and almost ended up going to the ER - but I guess that is how we learn...
As usual, we fixed way too much food and bought way too many supplies, but that is becoming the standard procedure... I fixed two large Sirloin roasts for the party, which were great, but we ended up only using one and giving a lot of that away, along with lots of food, as door prizes.
Here is a picture of my cake, which pretty much says it all...

We played the now famous "Just say NO" game, where everybody get a clothespin and if they can get another guest to utter the word "NO" during conversation, get to take one of their clothespins, with the person with the most clothespins each hour getting a fabulous prize. Here, Boyd, one of our good friends and neighbors is 'hiding' one of his pins on his ear...

Anyway, the party went great, with Pam being a great hostess and kept making rounds of '57 Chevys', this new drink that I really like and we drink often while playing pool. They are Southern Comfort, grenadine, pineapple juice and some other stuff, but go down real easy and I ended up going to bed earlier than expected...
When I woke up, pretty early, I went out and found this disaster...

Pam had cleaned up the entire house and everything put away - and that was a lot of mess and stuff... I am still shocked at how she did it all - but also very grateful as I really wasn't feeling up for the task that I was expecting to be needed done...
She gets a whole row of gold stars for all that...
