Getting Ready for Christmas...
We have been getting ready for Christmas over the past couple of weeks. We have been shopping and Pam has been wrapping up all the presents so I can get them boxed and sent out. Big, tiring fun...
The new computers that I got during the Black Friday 'sale' are both doing well. Pam wanted her own laptop, so she now has the Dell that we got last year and I have the new Sony. Its got Vista on it and I am learning a lot about the little 'details' of Vista as I am integrating it into the home network. Pam has the Dell on the kitchen counter so she can use it and watch it while she is in the kitchen.
The new Emachine desktop is upstairs in the Guest Suite, replacing the custom built one that has been there for a couple of years. We are probably going to de-tune it and sell it to a friend for a cheap price so someone else can use it as it is a nice computer. The Emachine uses all generic parts so you can put in a generic power supply or motherboard or drives you can buy from any vendor. that is a nice feature being a computer builder from way back.
Felix the Kat is growing up and doing well. He is learning a lot about playing with others and fitting into the household schedule. He has been a little lethargic lately, but you can almost watch him grow bigger...
I got a new parka from Cabelas online for my upcoming 61st birthday. I really hate bad coats, especially around here, and that is all I have been able to find over the last couple of years locally. The only good ones around here are camouflage which I am not into. As one friend put it, those camo parkas are designed for hunting - to sit still for hours in -20 degree weather so they are good, but I just cannot get into buying a parka I cannot see... So far, the new parka is doing pretty well. It has 12 pockets, is Gor-tex lined and down filled and has three drawstrings at the hood, waist and bottom. I am going to wear it for the next two weeks and if it isn't the best parka I have ever had, I am going to take it back to Cableas in Boise, when I pick up Jade and Tom on 12/13, and look for something more 'fitting'. I don't want yet another bad coat in the closet...
Pool has been going pretty well. Well, the Wednesday night league sorta sucked this week. I ended up winning 2 of my 4 games, one of which was a table run and a free drink by a local vendor. That is below my standard, but we were playing a good team and that is the way things go. On Thursday night, I did much better. I won all 4 of my games and got another table run, which in that league, adds up to more money and bigger trophies in the end. I think I now have 4 table runs in that league.
My new fishing buddy, that I went out on his boat a couple of weeks ago and wrote about herein, called the other day. I hadn't heard from him for a while and he said that he had a mild heart attack but was getting better now... He said before that happened, he took his kids to Auger Falls, the place we fished at, and they caught 6 Sturgeon, the biggest being a 6 1/2 foot'er, which is a nice fish. He said he should be better in a few days, so I am hoping to hook up with some of those fish again before it all freezes over...
The weather is cold here and it has snowed two or three times in the past couple of weeks. Nothing deep, just the usual inch or two which last a couple of days. I still have to get to the garage and get it cleaned up. There is just so much stuff in there that its hard to clean it up much without just moving the plies around from here to there. Well, that's about all that is fit to print around DaHo...
