It's Alive...

After working most of yesterday and all of today on it, the new DaHo Home Server is alive and well. It is now living in the wiring cabinet closet and is quite happy in there. It has five computer friends that it keeps track of and keeps their data backed up and all.

I must thank nephew Micheal for the Microsoft Home Server OS that started all this upgrade effort. I think it will be helping keep track of our digital lives for years to come. It now has just over 1 TB of storage. After all the backups and getting all the media files loaded on it, we shall have to see if that is sufficent or not.

Of all the Microsoft products, I think this Home Server OS is the best product I have seen. I had absolutely no problems or issues building the hardware, which had a significant degree of complexity to it, or loading and setting up the Home Server software.

It will probably take me a good week to get it all setup with all the other computers and transfering all the files around to their new locations. But, once its done, it will a very good thing and will simplify life from then on.

We just got a new Domain name, LIFEINDAHO.com, that will work well with it and being able to access our files via the net.

Now, I just need to sleep and relax for a few days to recover from all the holiday fun of late...

Lots of great technical stuff happening here in DaHo...
