$700 Anitbiotics...

Well, I am now taking a liquid antibiotic that costs $ 700. Luckily, we only had to pay $ 35 with our insurance, but Pam said that is the actual cost for this 1/2 pint size bottle...

This is day three of the C.diff. The first day I was very sick, had a 102 deg fever and the runs about 30 times. Then, yesterday, I felt pretty good again. No runs, no fever and I just felt like I had been beat up or something similar. Then, today, I again feel horrible, have a 98.0 temperature and have the runs again.

This seems to be the pattern of C.diff. It hits for a day, then it slows down for a day and then it comes back for a day or two, etc., etc. I am thinking that it must flush part of its 'charm' out with the runs, and then has to rebuild back up to have another go at it...

Anyway, I have been gagging down this new antibiotic since mid-afternoon on Monday and I am not impressed with what it is doing yet. It is called Vancomycin - one of the few 'last resort' antibiotics that still exists. I think it is made from some tropical forest mud or something like that. They try to keep it for very controlled use so the bugs don't get immune to it like they have to most of the other antibiotics out there.

Business is going great. We seem to be getting calls from new dealers almost daily. Right now, we have three good sized orders that are waiting on our next needle shipment which will arrive on Monday.

We have been planning a trip to Europe for Pam's 50th birthday, but have now canceled it until later in the year or next year. We thought this C.diff was over with, but obviously not, and we don't know how much longer it will come and go.

Well, its back to bed for me for a while, here in DaHo...

Lanny, are you OK? No blogging and no emails from you so I am a little concerned. Hope it's just because you and Pam are busy and having fun. I've got some cute emails to forward to you but want to make sure you're Ok first. Love, Grace
