Amazing Technology...
A few days ago, I was eating lunch at Burger King and a good friend and his son showed up. The son ordered the BK Kids Meal and along with the food, it came with a toy. It was a digital watch with a countdown timer - and it came free with a $3 kid's meal. I remember the first time I saw a digital watch. It was close to $ 1,000 and probably wasn't any more accurate - pretty amazing stuff.
While we are going down that road, I also remember the first time I saw a TV set. It was in the front window of the furniture store down town. It was a large wooden console model and there was a crowd there looking at it. I remember there was this group of guys, about 20 or so, that were trying to figure it out. A couple of them were looking at the screen in the front and a couple more of them were around the back of the TV trying to see if they could see what was happening when the screen changed up front. The general thought was that there was some sort of projector or movie 'machine' in there that was making the TV pictures. I was about 4 years old and we had one of them in our house not too long after that night that we saw the TV in town.
It is amazing to have lived in an age that has had so many changes in it. If it would have been almost any past period of time, the biggest lifetime change might have been buttons, gas lanterns, or metal knives - if I was lucky...
My recovery from the last two operations is going well. I am having much less pain since the operation recovery. I have new pains or lack of old pains every day or three now as my body keeps recovering from the injury caused by having my body hacked up again. I suspect this will continue for some time based upon the past operations.
The business is going well. Not much growth lately, but I guess that is the way most everything is these days.
I have been working on making the business functions work better as I have time. Currently I am back, yet again, on the labels for the tubes. Our latest batch of them are not sticking to the plastic tubes very well. We have not had a customer or dealer comment of them, but we have had some test labels come un-stuck. The labels are probably the most problematic part of the business since the beginning. We have had 10 or so changes and searches in updating the labels. These new ones are a lot more expensive, but seem to be the only ones that have no problems with staying on the tubes.
Last week we were woken up by the dogs and there was a big blaze outside the windows. One of our neighbors houses burned to the ground. It was about 1/2 mile away but with the lack of night lighting around here, it was quite bright. We went over there early the next morning and I guess the car had caught on fire and the first thing that made them aware of the fire was hearing a little thump in the garage and when they opened up the door, the whole garage was in flames. The fire trucks got there in 6 minutes, but it was pretty much history by then. Scary stuff...
Well, I must get to work again. Sorry for not posting for a couple of weeks, I will try to this blog updated.
