Snow and Old Friends...
We had our first snow of the season two weeks ago. It left about 3" at DaHouse and over 8" at Storms house. He had all sorts of trouble from it as a lot of tree branches broke and took out his power. Luckily, we don't have trees yet, and our power is all underground until it gets to the big poles.
Last week, Erik and Karen came here for a short visit. They were returning from a trip in Wyoming and stopped by to say hi and visit. We had a great and grand time as we have not seen each other for many years. Erik is my oldest friend and it was great to see him again.
We have been getting a lot of winter sort of weather. One day its 80deg and the next it will be 35deg. But, so far, we have not had any weather that has caused much damage or problems.
Pam's sister, Roberta, turned us onto an auction that was happening up her way. It was being given by the FDIC getting rid of all the assets of the Bank of Idaho. I could view all of the items online but had no way to see what they were really like. I ended up getting a great laserjet 4000 printer with a duplexer and Jet Direct card for $40. They were also selling Dell PCs but I didn't get any. Roberta got one for $25 and it is very nice. They take the hard drives out of them, but still it was a great deal. It even came with a nice flat screen monitor. If I would have known more about what was going on, we would have got a lot more stuff.
Roberta brought down the printer last Saturday and I got it all hooked up and running. Its a very nice printer. So, we now have a printer for each of the labels we use for the needle products. It will be a very welcomed addition to the business.
Speaking of business, all is going well. We have been putting together the large order, 300 sets, of needles that has to be out in a couple of weeks. Shortly after that is all done, Pam will be starting to work here after the Dell layoff, it will give us some time to train her on everything about the business before its gets crazy after the first of the year.
We are still working of the new Serving Jig product. I think we will be doing the wooden bases there locally. So, I am not sure yet if I will be doing them or if I can find a friend that needs work to make them up for us. I really don't have time to deal with them, so I am sure we can get someone to put them together. There are a lot of people out of work around here. And, with Dell and a number of local companies laying off people, it should be a while before a lot of them will find work.
All in all, all is all good. There have been a lot of birthdays in the families this last month. Then, very soon it will be winter again and we will have all the usual winter fun to deal with. I hope all you readers are doing well and prospering. Well, that is about all there is to say from here in DaHo...
